AdiMSCs

What can AdiMSCs be used for?

Fat tissue-derived Mesenchymal Stem cells (MSCs) may be used for aesthetic enhancements such as breast augmentation and wrinkle reduction. It also has been found that there are indications for osteoarthritis. MSCs, source notwithstanding, are a type of stem cell that have potential to differentiate into a wide variety of tissue and organ cells that has been validated by numerous research papers and clinical researches.

How far has AdiMSCs gone in the progress of medical science?
Fat tissue-derived MSCs are considered a revelation in the stem cells industry because it can potentially be a common practice to see the general public embracing the idea of making good use of their fat as it contains precious MSCs – stem cells that have been found to contribute to the treatment of many injuries, illnesses and aesthetics. After all, this method of harvesting stem cells is not as invasive as a bone marrow aspiration, and not everyone would have had the opportunity to store umbilical cord stem cells.

Are there any case studies or literature that I can refer to?
There are many case studies in the research of fat tissue-derived MSCs that are available on the internet, although availability may depend on subscription to journals. You may contact us for a non-obligatory consultation should you require more information.

Where can I get fat tissues extracted?
You can either elect the plastic surgeon of your preference or you may contact us to make arrangements with any of our panel of plastic surgeons. Should you elect the plastic surgeon of your preference, all you need to do is to contact us to facilitate the collection of fat tissues.

What if I am not fat, can I still qualify for this?
The plastic surgeon will determine if you are qualified for the procedure as only a minimum of 200ml of fat is required.

How are fat tissues extracted?
Fat is extracted via liposuction – a safe and common fat extraction procedure that is being practiced all over the world. You will only be required to go under local anesthesia in order for the procedure to take place, eliminating the risks that are associated with the more potent general anesthesia.

How long will the procedure take?
Extraction of 200ml volume of fat will take approximately two to three hours.

Will liposuction leave a scar?
Liposuction is a procedure that has been continually improvised over the years by plastic surgeons. The procedure now only involves a long needle being inserted under into the skin to extract fat tissues. This skin incision is small. This risk of scarring is very much dependent on your genetic susceptibility.

Is liposuction painful?
As you will be under local anesthesia during the procedure, it should be a painless process. However, you may feel some pressures during the procedure. You can even have a conversation with your surgeon during the procedure.

Will I be mobile after the procedure?
Yes, most patients are able to leave on the same day after the procedure.

What happens to the fat tissues after liposuction?
The fat tissues undergo a process in the laboratory whereby MSCs are isolated from the fat tissues. The isolated MSCs are then expanded to increase the number of stem cells before final storage. The whole process may take up to a month, and it is important to note that this is a highly specialized and delicate processing method that requires precision handling as MSCs are rare and delicate, hence a clean laboratory environment and experience in such undertakings are essential for optimum results.

How are MSCs finally stored?

Expanded MSCs are stored in multiple vials to enable flexibility when needed as a portion may be retained for future use whilst another portion is used for further expansion or treatment. These vials are stored in a cryogenic preservation tank under vapor phase liquid nitrogen at a temperature of -190°C.

Why should I store stem cells now?

Stem cells, like all of us, deteriorate with age. Younger stem cells are healthier and more versatile compared to stem cells that are older. Storing stem cells when your body is still in good health will yield healthier stem cells compared to stem cells extracted later when you have aged. Stem cells harvested are preserved at the state they were in when they were harvested, meaning that these healthier stem cells can be used to better effect as you age.

Can I use someone else’s fat tissue-derived MSCs?

It is important to note that the best method of treatment is to ultimately use your own stem cells for treatment (autologous treatment), without the need to take supplementary drugs or additional properties. This eliminates the risk of rejection and complications associated with the use of a 3rd party stem cell sample (allogeneic treatment).

Are stem cells consumed orally effective?

Stem cells are only effective if they are viable for treatment – alive and healthy. To be in a viable state, the stem cells must be kept in a condition essential to its survival that requires careful handling. Stem cells, like other cells, do not survive for long outside the human body without proper handling during transportation and without proper cryopreservation. Furthermore, stem cells are most effective when administered directly into the site to be treated in a concentrated form to minimize wastage. As such, we do believe that orally consumed stem cells can assist in treatments or therapy as these so-called stem cells are kept in a box on a shelf and when consumed, will undergo the digestion process that will most likely have very little or no effect on the desired outcome.
