CryoCord provides bag storage and the option to store cord blood stem cells in multiple aliquots (vials), which is the preferred method because it allows the greatest number uses of the sample (1). Technology in the future may allow us to cultivate HSCs like what we are able to do with MSCs today; expand from a small number of HSCs to sufficient amount for transplantation (2), extending cord blood transplant even to adults. A study carried out in University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Centre reported successful application of MSC expanded HSCs or for transplantation. (3).
