CryoCord's LABORATORY

CryoCord’s laboratory has been involved in the processing and storage of umbilical cord blood since early 2002 and we are the first cord blood bank in Malaysia to receive the prestigious ISO9001:2000 certification, recognized by both the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) and the American Society for Quality National Accreditation Board (ANAB).

Our state-of-the-art laboratory is divided into four areas; the “main” room where all the filing and paperwork is carried out; the Class 100,000 cryostorage room; the Class 1000 gowning room, which adjoins the 4th area; our Class 100 Cleanroom (the first of its kind in the biomedical industry in Asia).

We take full responsibility in assuring that all our processing, quality control, and quality assurance methods are in line with the guidelines set by the American Association of Blood Banks and the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy.

Quality assurance:
	Weekly environmental assays are carried out by our personnel to monitor the sterility levels in our laboratory. Such stringent testing guarantees that there is zero growth of contaminants i.e. bacterial and fungal colonies in the facility at all times. While the assays may be carried out in-house, ALL our samples and test results are cultured and validated by a separate internationally accredited lab.
	Annual Colony Forming Unit Recovery assays are carried out yearly to assess the viability and integrity of our stored cord blood samples. Such assays are in compliance to cGMP guidelines and we are the only laboratory in Malaysia to perform CFU assays on our stored cord blood units.
