Our comprehensive service.
The CryoCord commitment is to provide the highest quality of service to families and doctors. Every sample collected by CryoCord is precious so we are committed to delivering the highest quality sample every time. CryoCord, through the use of multiple cryovials is maximizing the potential value of the umbilical cord blood for the future. CryoCord is committed in the near future to researching and developing further applications for cord blood stem cell therapy.
Here's a step-by-step look at CryoCord's cord blood banking service:
|
Step 1 - Enroll with CryoCord
You will receive a cord blood collection kit upon registration and payment of RM800. You are required to take this collection kit with you to the hospital when you are ready to deliver. We will also assist your doctor with materials and training aids needed for the cord blood collection.
|
Step 2 - Call Us
Call CryoCord's 24-hour Hotline service upon arrival at the hospital, so we can review the collection process with your doctor or nurse. Do feel free to call CryoCord before, during or after your baby's birth with any questions. CryoCord is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
|
Step 3 - Collection
The collection procedure does not in any way cause any harm to the mother or the baby. It is a simple, painless and non-invasive procedure. After the baby is delivered your doctor clamps and cuts the umbilical cord and then takes your baby out of the birthing area. CryoCord's standard collection procedure allows for the maximum amount of stem cells to be collected, is safe and reduces the risk of contamination. Your obstetrician then cleans a 4- to 8-inch area of cord with an antiseptic solution. A sterile needle from the collection bag is then inserted into the vein of the umbilical cord and blood is drawn into the sterile bag by gravity. The procedure is completed within 2 - 6 minutes. We also require two tubes of maternal blood to be taken from the mother for tests against various forms of infection. However, sometimes the doctor may draw blood from the mother earlier in the delivery process. You can then call CryoCord's 24-hour service so we can verify the labeling and arrange for our courier agent to transport the cord blood to our laboratory as soon as possible. The box is then sealed and remains at your bedside until the courier arrives.
|
Step 4 - Pickup
Once you've called CryoCord, we will arrange for a private medical courier to bring your baby's cord blood unit to our state-of-the-art laboratory and long-term storage facility. We'll give you a courtesy call to let you know we've received it. Our private courier is available 365 days per year, and has experience in handling all biological materials.
|
Step 7 - Retrieval & Shipping of cord blood unit
When required, the cord blood unit can be released from the CryoCord long-term storage facility upon receipt of confirmation of the Released Request from the Transplant Centre. The CryoCord coordinator records the confirmed date of delivery and the necessary completed checklist and forwards to the Transplant Centre together with the shipping schedule. On the day of delivery the CryoCord coordinator will check with the Transplant Centre to verify the safe arrival of the cord blood unit and its condition.
